Insight into the mandatory internship: Laura's experiences in the DEV team
5 questions for Laura: How her mandatory internship in the DEV team is going
What made you decide to do your internship at the Halvotec Group?
At the beginning of my studies, I heard from my friends how happy a friend was with his job at Halvotec. This positive experience stayed with me until my internship semester. When I saw the Halvotec stand at IKORO and spoke to the people who are now my colleagues, I was able to immediately assess what everyday life would be like during the internship, not only in terms of the work but also the team. The impression was so positive that I applied very quickly and gladly. And what can I say, my friend was absolutely right! The open and friendly atmosphere and the exciting projects won me over straight away.
What does a typical working day in your internship look like?
Thanks to the flexible working hours, I like to start at 7 am. Then it's already time to get started with the tasks I've been assigned. Sometimes I work on the user interface of an application we're currently developing, and sometimes it's backend tasks. As everyone here is a full-stack developer, I've been able to do everything. The variety was particularly valuable for combining study content and practical experience. There are also regular team meetings where we discuss who is currently working on what and how the rest of the time is planned.
What has surprised or pleased you the most in your internship so far?
I was most surprised by the job interview. It was really about getting to know each other and not a self-promotion show. I even chatted briefly about the Eras Tour, which was actually very unexpected. What I've enjoyed most so far is working together as a team on big projects, helping each other and the tasks themselves. I was always allowed to contribute a small part to real projects. In general, I would say the "warmth" that the team radiates has impressed me the most.
How did the team support you when you started?
I always had several contacts for questions. Colleagues kept coming up to me and asking if I needed support. That was really nice and made it much easier for me to get started.
What tip would you give to other students who would like to apply to us?
Stay authentic/stay true to yourself. Show interest in the projects and the team. And being a Marvel fan is definitely a bonus at Digital Experts!
